Mirror

Mirror. October 2021. This piece is a finger painting portrait. Casper was studying the desert approach to spirituality at the time which triggered some heavy grief for Casper. He is learning about the eternal dying it takes to stay in love with the world around us and in tune with some divinity beyond it.  He uses the dark and deep blues,black, and reds to try and express what this death and rebirth cycle feels like to the spirit and the body. There is a haunting glow about the eyes, said to represent the glow of the soul behind any human’s eyes. Or perhaps, an eerie sense of insanity one must posses to either believe in a higher power or reject its existence all together. Casper wonders if the figures in the right eye are him and God , enjoying casual conversation.  Maybe on a Sunday afternoon.
