And God Was Watching Her

This painting was inspired by a study of my own relationship with my inner/divine feminine energy and desire.  I was taught directly and indirectly that allowing myself to desire anything, especially sexually was a dangerous game. After being assaulted about two years ago my relationship with my desires, both romantic and sexual was very broken. Over the summer (2021), I read a book on divine Eros and accessing his energy, loving energy in your everyday life. On your own. There were exercises that helped you sit with your desires without acting on them. To see what you could learn about yourself first. I’m still processing those lessons. Maybe this painting is a prayer for God to protect me on this perilous journey into self and into love. June 2021. Acrylic and oil. 8x10 inches
