This painting was interesting. I just wanted to paint roses but the rest was born on its own. When I finished it. I thought maybe I must’ve been wrestling with my own humanity. We’re always living and dying and loving. The fish is my favorite part. To me, he represents the subconscious drive we all experience for self destruction, in the pursuit of what we desire most. He never even gets the worm. Still, he is happy to die. Witnessing new life all around him. Living is a strange thing. Acrylic and oil. Summer 2021. 8x10 inches.
